Kryptowährung

Kryptowährung, or cryptocurrency in English, refers to a digital or virtual form of currency that uses cryptography for security. Unlike traditional currencies issued by governments (fiat currencies), cryptocurrencies operate on decentralized technology, typically utilizing blockchain for transaction verification and record-keeping. This decentralized nature allows for peer-to-peer transactions without the need for intermediaries like banks. Cryptocurrencies are often characterized by their limited supply, which is achieved through mechanisms such as mining or protocols that restrict the issuance of new coins. The most well-known cryptocurrency is Bitcoin, but thousands of other cryptocurrencies (often referred to as altcoins) exist, each with its unique features, use cases, and underlying technologies. Cryptocurrencies can be used for various purposes, including online purchases, investment vehicles, remittances, and as a means of transferring value across borders. They have garnered significant attention due to their potential for high returns, speculation, and the innovative technology behind them, but they also come with risks related to volatility, regulatory scrutiny, and security.
